Dear All,

Finally I am going to St Petersburg. I can't wait. Despite arguing against authorial intention and theoretically wishing to dispose of the author, his biography and his autocriticism I am still a sucker for Nabokov as a figure, a person, an idol and an image (or more the point, a myriad of representations and rerepresentations of himself). Consequently (and rather guiltily) I want to spend a few Nabokov days there and what better place to ask for some tips on places to go and see than this forum ?

I know there is a museum there but are there any other places I should see? I expect I shall feel a little like V in Sebastian Knight (don't get me started on V's identity!). I love the fact that VN anticipated this paper-chase in all his work.

Anyway, any advice would be much appreciated. I am also spending some time in Moscow so anywhere relevant there would also apply.

Best wishes,

James Veitch
