Staged Adaptations of Lolita and As I Lay Dying at Wesleyan

Wesleyan University's theater department at the Center for the Arts will present staged adaptations of two famous works of literature-As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov-during Pages to Stages: Senior Director's Theses, April 7 through 9.

These productions will be performed in repertory, featuring a cast and crew composed of Wesleyan University students and directed by two honors thesis candidates, Michael Rau and Tara Shah. Both shows run Thursday through Saturday, April 7 through 9, in Wesleyan's Patricelli '92 Theater at 222 High Street. As I Lay Dying will be performed April 7 and 9 at 8PM and April 8 at 10PM. Lolita runs April 7 and 9 at 10PM and April 8 at 8PM.

Admission is free; however, because space is limited, these events will be ticketed with tickets made available the day of each performance only. Off-campus guests only may call the University Box Office after 10AM on the day of the performance to reserve tickets. More information is available by calling the box office at 860-685-3355 or visiting www.wesleyan.edu/cfa.

Michael Rau directs his own adaptation of As I Lay Dying, which follows the story of a poor family in Mississippi and their journey to bury the mother in a neighboring county. Tara Shah directs her adaptation of Nabokov's Lolita. The story of Lolita begins when European-born Mr. Humbert comes to stay live with the Haze family, only to fall in love with the young daughter of the house.
