EDITORIAL NOTE. Papers on Nabokov would be more than appropriate for the
conference announced below. John Burt Foster's recent _Nabokov's Art of
Memory and European Modernism_ (Princeton UP, 1993) is the obvious
starting place for papers on this topic.

The Russian Language and Area Studies Program at Texas Tech University
announces a conference on "Russian Modernism and its European Context" to
take place between 18-20 April 1996. We request three-to four-hundred
word abstracts for papers to be presented at the conference. Comparative
as well as interdisciplinary approaches are encouraged. Abstracts should
reach the organizer, Professor Lewis Tracy, no later than 8 December
1995. The conference will take place at the Texas Tech University campus
