Nabokovians:

Here is an update on the progress of the Nabokov World Wide Web site.

I have head from many of you with ideas about the site's visual,
textual, and hypertextual features. My sincere thanks for your suggestions.
So far suggested names have included Zembla, Vyra, Ardis, and Butterfly.
It was also pointed out that the name should probably include Nabokov's
name somewhere, since at least some of the search engines on the Web index
only site names rather than contents.

The features of the site are shaping up nicely. Several eminent
Nabokovians (whose names I won't mention until things are finalized) have
offered invaluable contibutions, including photographs, critical articles
on Nabokov, previously unpublished indexes and bibliographies to Nabokov's
works, and original fiction. There is also the possibility of the site's
publishing new monographs on Nabokov. Discussion of this exciting prospect
continues.

Please continue to send your suggestions to NABOKV-L. No idea is too
far-fetched. The Web is a rapidly changing electronic environment, and its
possible impact on the future of scholarly endeavor, publishing, and art,
are immeasurable.

Thank you again for your interest.
