If I understand your question correctly, there wasn't really an
"original." I took an educated guess that VN was referring to Dali and a
magazine very like "Life," and then, when the scene was included in the
final shooting script, it was up to the production designer (Jon Hutman)
and his prop people to come up with a suitable photo--a photo which did
not, as I recall, include the Venus de Milo, etc., and therefore could
not genuinely be identified as VN's "original." But then, in the manner
of most makers of fiction, VN was probably plumbing both memory and imagination
to invent that "Picture of the Week."
