I was not in France these last weeks, so my contribution in the discussion
about "cruchon" is maybe not appropriate. This word is used in a delightful
book of Sergeï Mintslov "Za mertvymi dushami" (my translation in l'Age
d'Homme, 1988), and means obviously 1/ a container (a kind of silver
tureen) and 2/ the mixture of strong drinks (without fruit juices !) in it.
When I was in Moscoow University in 1970-71, Russian students sometimes
made a "cruchon" (they used this word) : it was a mixture a all the strong
drinks which were available in the room. A good bottle of French Cognac
which I brought once to such a party was thus immediately poured in this
terrible mixture !
