I was just informed by my email services that all my outgoing messages
from Dec. 1 between 10 and 12:45 were probably lost, so I am resending the
ones which fall into that category. Sorry if these are duplicates, GD

In partial answer to Nolan's question, I refer him to the twenty-five
page article, "Notes to Vivian Darkbloom's Notes to Ada" by J.E.
Rivers and William Walker, in *Nabokov's Fifth Arc*, ed. by Rivers
and myself, Texas 1982. The notes aren't all that straightforward.
And of course Brian Boyd's continuing series of annotations in the
*Nabokovian* shows much more of the sleight-of-hand occasionally
involved in these notes.
