LOLITA audio tape by Jeremy Irons gets good review (fwd)

Body
EDITOR's NOTE. Random House has just released on audio tape the full text
of VN's LOLITA. The 8-tape, 11 & 1/2 set is a consummate performance by
Jeremy Irons, who plays Humbert in the new Lyne-Schiff LOLITA movie.
NABOKV-L will run a more detailed account of the reading.

A review of Lolita (the unabridged audio book version) appears in the April
15th edition of Library Journal (along with a great picture of VN hanging
out of a car -- could that be an imposter!!!) Jeremy Irons is the reader of
the tale.

The Review:

"This unabridged edition of Nabokov's classic story about a middle-aged,
expatriate European man's obsessive love for a 12-year-old girl -- which is
being released to coincide with director Adrian Lyne's new film version --
ia a beautifully produced recording that pushes the boundaries of the audio
medium. While LOLITA continues to raise the hackles of would-be censors
even today, most listeners will marvel at the restraint and playful humor
with which Nabokov limns his tale. Narrator Jeremy Irons, who plays Humbert
Humbert in Lyne's film, is an uncompromising audiobook reader whose
performances on cassette are as laudatory as his Academy Awary(R)-winning
work on the silver screen. This landmark release is highly recommended for
all library collections. -- Mark Annichiarico, "Library Journal""

This 8 cassette version is available from Random Audio. ISBN 0-679-45786-0.
$39.95.

Please don't tear apart the review. I'm sure the writer was not imagining
an audience such as this one when he wrote it.

Just imagine Jeremy Irons reciting. I'm intrigued.
