Lolita Radio Play (fwd)

Dear list,

This may be interesting for Nabokovians who understand German:
The tradition of serious radio drama is being upheld...
by German public radio. Cologne's "Westdeutscher Rundfunk" (WDR) has
celebrated VN's 100th birthday by producing a 150-min radio play based
on "Lolita". I wasn't able to listen to the transmission, but it was widely
(and highly) acclaimed by the press. For example, the
"Sueddeutsche Zeitung" of Munich, one of Germany's leading dailies,
wrote: "...beating both existing film versions by lengths. What must become
unequivocal in the picture (or embarrassing, or repressed)
keeps in the merely acoustic medium all its iridescent ambiguity."
WDR's merchandising department is now offering a tape recording of
the radio play for worldwide delivery. Depending on the destination, the
price for the set of two audiocassettes is about 25 to 40$. The URL is
www.wdrladen.de.

Best wishes,

Christoph Heuke
