Dear list members,
A large volume of e-mail passes through my all-too-fallible hands
each day. Some of it is public and intended for distribution on NABOKV-L;
much of it is personal and NOT intended for general distribution.
On occasion, the two get mixed with embarassing consequences for all. The
most hazardous cases are those in which personal information for me is
included in public messages for NABOKV-L.
To minimize this sort of thing, I ask that you observe the
following rules:
1. Please do not include personal messages to me in postings for NABOKV-L.
At best, I have to edit them out before running the posting; at worst, I
fail to catch them and they get sent out.
2. In general, please send messages that you do NOT want on NABOKV-L to
my personal addresses <chtodel@humanitas.ucsb.edu> or <chtodel@gte.net>.
Only "public" postings should be addressed to NABOKV-L. Unless it is
obviously not so, I assume anything addressed to NABOKV-L is public
information.
3. As a partial exeption, it is, if need be, OK to put a line or two of
explanation at the top of your NABOKV-L message which I will delete
before sending, but NOTHING you wouldn't want a third party to see.
4. Lastly, to facilitate the editor's job, please include your return
e-address at the top of your NABOKV-L messages just before the text.
