"On October 21-26, 1999, the Nabokov Museum in St.Petersburg will hold the
"Nabokov and Germany" program -- the second program in its "Nabokov and
Foreign Countries" series. The five-day festival will include a scholarly
conference (October 22-24), two exhibitions, two film screenings (one of
them -- a world premiere of Oleg Dorman's documentary about Nabokov), and
a theater program. The program is supported by the Consulate General of
Germany in St.Petersburg, Goethe Institute in St.Petersburg, Pratt and
Whitney Space Propulsion (CA, USA), and several Russian-German commercial
companies.
The organizers of "Nabokov and Germany" welcome to St.Petersburg Russian
and international scholars interested in reading a paper, giving a
1,5-hour lecture, or speaking at the Round Table session on the subject of
Vladimir Nabokov's relation with the German language and culture.
Most papers (or their abstracts) will be published in the 6th issue of the
"Nabokovsky Vestnik". The participants will have to cover their travel
expenses and pay for their accommodation. No registration fee is required.
The Nabokov Museum will provide visa support to its guests and will help
them make reservations at a hotel in St.Petersburg.

I would appreciate if this notice appeared in a week from now, for then
I'd be able to answer people's questions within a week (instead of keeping
them wait for two weeks while I enjoy my vacation). Yes, it's a
Kandidatskaya dissertatsia I'm trying to write -- at Herzen University's
Department of Russian 20th Century Literature.
I would really like it if you could send me just the important stuff from
Nabokov-L. To tell you the truth, it's Zakhar who's in charge of our
museum e-mail, and he never shares anything with me (and I'm usually too
busy when I'm there to check it myself). But that's, of course, only if it
gives you no trouble.
