Fellow Nabokovians:
Having returned from a pleasantly phantasmagoric trip to the St.
Petersburg Nabokov Centennial Festival, I am ensconced in the house in
Ashland, Oregon where, if memory serves, Vera was typing up LOLITA and VN
was contemplating PNIN. Nabokov spend part of a butterfly summer here in
this house in the early fifties. (Those interested can take a look at the
place on the web-site ZEMBLA by searching "Ashland.") I, amidst play-going,
birding, and botanizing, am, as usual, writing a piece on VN for a
conference.
My problem is this. The house has a Marsian-to-me Mac computer and I
am unable to figure out how to tap into my Santa Barbara e-mail account.
Any hot tips?

I shall make a report on the Petersburg conference shortly.

Best, Don Johnson, Co-Editor NABOKV-L
