Subject: Re: Dieter Zimmer on Boyd, Alexander thread: Cautionary note fron Kurt Johnson

Re Kurt Johnson's "cautionary note" on the Boyd/Alexander thread. Perhaps we all have to disagree, but then I suggest we better stick to what has actually been said. Kurt writes that I claimed there is no evidence about imperfect mimicry, and he objects to this claim of mine. "Dieter's comments, which may have been offhand, that there is no evidence out there about imperfect mimicry overlooks this literature" [the one on imperfect mimicry]. However, I never said there is no evidence for imperfect mimicry, neither offhand nor otherwise. Quite on the contrary, not on nabokv-l but in other contexts I have repeatedly argued that mimicry does not need to be perfect in order to work, and I felt backed by peer-reviewed literature. So what's the problem?
