EDITOR's NOTE. OK, but did Q write a play caled "Proud Flesh"? Don't
remember it?

I know playwrights cannot copyright titles, especially
perhaps fictional playwrights, but I thought Quilty
fans might be interested in the following from Joyce
Carol Oates's rereading of "All the King's Men" in the
March 28 NY Review of Books:

"In 1938, in Mussolini's Italy, Warren began working
on a play titled "Proud Flesh" in which Willie Stark's
earliest incarnation is a man named Talos . . . "
