EDITOR's NOTE. The Nabokov Museum in St. Petersburg is located in the
Nabokov family home. In addition to its function as an independent musem, it
has arranged and hosted many Nabokov-related events--including the
International Nabokov Symposium and NABOKOV 101 to be held in July 2002. It
is
very much worthy of your interest and support. The appeal below introduces
the new Museum Director Julia Pogodina. I urge all NABOKV-L subscribers to

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen!
My name is Julia Pogodina. Since November of 2001 I have been the Director
of the Saint-Petersburg V.V.Nabokov museum. With the help of this appeal I
would like to introduce myself and assure you in my intentions to make every
effort to further development of the Nabokov museum, its programs and
projects.
At the office of the Director of the Nabokov museum I intend to continue and
develop academic, educational and art museum programs. I am going to pay
special attention to extending of the museum funds and making new permanent
expositions in the museum. In the near future I am going to make and develop
museum presence on the Internet and organize a Friends of the Nabokov
Museum. I hope that my law education and specialization in the area of
copyrights will contribute greatly in the development of the museum's
activities as a center of copyright monitoring.
I am a great admirer of Vladimir Nabokov and I am very pleased to work in
the museum bearing his name. It is a great honor for me to be the Director
of the Nabokov museum. I would like to thank Dmitri Milkov, Olga Voronina,
Jevgenii Kaydanov, and Vadim Stark for their confidence and express my
appreciation to everybody who has done so much for the establishment and
development of the museum. I sincerely appreciate my colleagues and
predecessors and hope to justify their expectations and contribute into the
museum development.
I know that there are quite a few visitors of NABOKOV-L who helped a lot in
the Nabokov museum formation and development. I am grateful to you for your
support and active collaboration in the museum life. I look forward to
meeting you and will be glad to answer all your questions and proposals. I
am sure your friendship with the Nabokov Museum will last. You will always
be desired and honored guests here at Bolshaya Morskaya, 47.
