The character Darwin in Nabokov's Glory is the author of a book of
(apparently) poetic and historical meditations on simple objects &
phenomena (corkscrews, playing Cards reflections). Could Darwin's
book be a reference to the French author Francis Ponge's lifelong
investigation of the poetry of simple objects? Looking at the titles
of Ponge's prose poems we find a definite resemblance. -- Jesse
