1. Has DN translated any non-Nabokov works? Is it only Russian and English
that he can translate, or is German and Italian also included in the mix?
a) On occasion. For instance: took on Lermontov; declined Stalin; did
advanced Russian military terminology when stationed at Ft. Meade; declined
Slavonic liturgical texts.
b) Russian-English; on occasion English-Russian (but not often because I
can't do that nearly as well as VN); Russian-Italian; English-Italian and
vice versa; French-English and occasionally(imperfectly) vice versa;
French-Italian; Spanish-English (better than the machines); Latin-English
(rusty); German-English (complaining loudly).
2. As far as I understand, there are still some of VN's plays and poems
not translated into English, will they ever be?
Yes. Doing the poems, samples soon. Plays -- The Tragedy of Mr.Morn et
al.-- to follow (depending on my life span).
3. Vintage has re-published almost all of VN's work, but not all of it.
Are there plans to re-print Poems and Problems, The Waltz Invention, etc.
P & P to be included in poetry anthology, under multiple contract to HB,
but may change to Vintage. Waltz: I hope so.
