Fw: Lolita - Humbert row scenes query
Date
Body
EDRESPONSE: In LOLITA, Part II, chapter 2 HH lists the places where he and
Lo had rows. The one asked about below is "at the corner of Seventh Street
and Central Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona." I have not checked but assume that
that address and the others are real.
For example, another corner where HH & LO quarrel is McEwen and Wheaton
Avenue in Clare, Michigan. THere is an article about this last in Volume I
(1994), pp. 1-7 of NABOKOV STUDIES with a photograph of the funeral home on
the site.
There a dozen or more such "quarrel locations" listed by HH. If
subscribers who live these spots would care to send in photographs it would
make the charming little project for display here or on ZEMBLA.
