For what it's worth, Simmons is mildly famous to Keatsians--his "Hyperion,"
"Endymion," and "Fall of Hyperion" are "based" (as you can tell from their
titles) around John Keats in-jokes. An advisor of mine from college often
recommended them as very amusing trashy beach-reading for Keats fanatics.
Anyway, perhaps Mr. Simmons has switched from Keats to Nabokov. A natural
progression, perhaps.
