Just as a Satanist turns the crucifix upside down to invert Christian law, so

above by making love from below (Chapter: "Melting clocks, Melting Bodies"
from Joseph Lanza´s "Gravity" , Quartet Books , 1997 )

After seeing the photographs of the reversable doll, Carolyn Kunin observed:
"I have seen something like this - - but not as a toy, on stage in an 18th
century opera. It was quite amusing, but I don't remember the specifics. It was
a "historical" staging, so probably something like this was done".
