There are two more (related), original Russian words starting with "pn"
-- the name "Pnin" in fact for a Russian ear immediately evokes both of
them -- "pni", which means (a) tree stumps (plural from "pen'", like in
"den'"- "dni") and (b) kick (it), from "pnut'".
And yes, it is sounded in these cases, just like in foreign-origin
"pneuma" or "pneumatic".
