Cover of Lolita in "Red Classics" series

Sandy Klein forwarded a link to an entry in the Observer blog that
criticizes several unfortunate new book covers in Penguin's "Red
Classics" series, including one for Lolita:

[. . .] This year has brought us two new editions of Jane Austen - one
from Penguin Red Classics, and one from Headline. Both look pretty
awful, if you ask me - Georgette Heyer meets Jane Green is the best
description I can come up with. Likewise with Bronte's Wuthering Heights
or Nabokov's Lolita: have a look yourself. [. . .]

Here's the blog site:

And here's the link to the images of Penguin's covers:

Finally, clicking on the cover of Lolita leads to this description of
the novel: "Humbert Humbert is a middle-aged, fastidious college
professor. He also likes little girls. And none more so than Lolita, who
he'll do anything to possess. Is he in love or insane? A silver-tongued
poet or a pervert? A tortured soul or a monster? ... Or is he all of
these?"
