Dear Mr. Dale,

One is well aware of the classical distinction between
the two terms, but there was no need in dragging in,
for example, Gaston Vorberg's "omnium gatherum
Glossarium eroticum". Simply a matter of POV.
As to the rhyme in question, I may be very wrong, but
I don't believe VN had the English pronunciation in
mind; in the same manner, he wrote an immortal poem
based on the Spanish pronunciation of the name
"Lolita", which had in the past misled certain
uninformed critics to draw incorrect conclusions.
