I can strongly recommend all Perez-Reverte's works. Lighter reading than
our VN, of course, but a well-earned legs-up after a hard day's
annotatin' and/or interpretatin' ADA et al ** AP-R's genre is
historico-religio-litero murder-mystero (see esp. The Seville Communion
and The Club Dumas). I have dubbed him the "Thinking Person's Dan Brown."

** Overawed by the Nice (pronounced Neece) scholars' summaries. When/how
can I obtain the full texts?

[EDNOTE. Jansy Mello also recommends Perez-Reverte's works, especially
The Flanders Panel. Maurice Couturier, who is organizing the Nice
conference, plans to publish the conference papers in a special issue of
the journal Cycnos. -- SES]
