[EDNOTE. Marianne Cotugno asked for information (emailed offlist to
cotugnm@muohio.edu if you wish) regarding "the Tour Book of the
Automobile Association" mentioned in Lolita on p. 145. As Stan
indicates, the AAA still supplies such books to members; perhaps the
local AAA office would know how to access the company's archives,
assuming that they keep copies of all old tour books. Perhaps there's
justification for a grant application here. -- SES]

I note a slight and possibly inconsequential "transcontinental shift" in
VN's use of "Automobile Association." The AA is a Brit org predating the
American AAA by several tinlizzies. Both offer the same roadside &
trip-planning services, including ANNUALLY REVISED yellow-backed Tour
Books.
One would therefore need to specify the YEAR(s) in order to pursue HH's
sources. Gute Fahrt!

Stan Kelly-Bootle.
