Dear Tom, Editors and List,

I don´t think that it really is important to discover how VN pigeonholed
Lacan (or Freud), but I find it worthwhile to learn how better to enjoy
VN´s writings through Lacan. Just like Monsieur Jourdain and "la prose",
we cannot stop ourselves from using signifiers when we write or speak!
As it is I prefer to suffer under VN´s effective and multi-faceted words
without groping for hidden meanings (which would (mis)lead me into
opposite directions anyway ). Lacan´s theory about the signifier and the
symbolic dimension helped me to avoid some of VN´s traps that might goad
me into searching for hidden messages - like Aunt Maud's. And yet...
