Dear Sergey,
Whoops! My apologies for not giving the citation explaining the amusement
park. It is in the Commentary to lines 609-614: "At first I was greatly
bothered
by the blare of diabolical radio music from what I thought was some kind of
amusement park across the road it turned out to be camping tourists and I
was thinking of moving to another place, when they forestalled me."
As for your second query re the passage "Frank has acknowledged the safe
return of the galleys I had been sent here and has asked me to mention in my
Preface and this I willingly do that I alone am responsible for any
mistakes
in my commentary. Insert before a professional. A professional proofreader has
carefully rechecked the printed text of the poem against the photo type of the
manuscript, and has found a few trivial misprints I had missed"
My assumption:
Since K has corrected the galleys indicating where to insert the requested
statement of personal responsibility, I assume the editor made the inserted
disclaimer, but neglected to delete the placement instruction. Believe me, it
happens --to the anguish of the author and amusement of the reader. VN tinkers
with the "meta-" device 2-3 times in ADA.
