VN and baldness?

Nobody thought much about a hint that Samuel Johnson used a wig and
we know that at that time everybody used wigs - but for some it might
serve
to hide baldness, too.
John Shade often mentioned the similarity bt. his own mane of hair and
Johnson's ( real or fake one). I really don't know what this could mean,
though...
