And then there's the famous apple in LOLITA (a Red Delicious if memory serves), not to muddy the waters any further, which leads to one of Humbert's more lightheartedly selfish aphorisms: (again from memory): "I had copped the honey of a spasm without impairing the morals of a minor" (I'm pretty sure he didn't use the word "copped."

[EDNOTE. A "Red Delicious," yes, which "made a cupped polished PLOP" in Dolores's hands (p. 58). But Humbert had "stolen," not copped, the honey of a spasm (p. 62). -- SES]
